As for a lot of Australians in Hamish's position, Hamish has to survive financially on an Australian Government pension, meaning at the end of each week there are no coins for Hamish to rattle in a savings tin-can or money box, SO Materials for STUDIO HAMISH toys are not affordable and are not purchased.  

Instead, Hamish has turned his mind to another CAUSE dear to his heart, that of MORAL and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY for RECYCLING. 

ALL THE MATERIALS UTILISED BY STUDIO HAMISH ARE SOURCED FROM SELECTIVE RETENTION OF APPROPRIATE MATERIALS THAT PASS THROUGH OUR HANDS DAILY, OR BY SELECTIVE HARVESTIING OF APPROPRIATE BUT OTHERWISE MATERIALS DEEMED TO BE 'WASTE'. 

Hamish is proud of his STEWARDSHIP approach to his work and it being beneficial to his LOCAL ECOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT.   In keeping with this ETHOS, all of STUDIO HAMISH TOYS ARE THEMSELVES FULLY RECYCLEABLE.

MATERIALS used in STUDIO HAMISH TOYS include:-

• Paper from original single use heavy paper bags etc, EXAMPLE: Supermarket etc delivery bags.
• Cardboard of various thicknesses from original single use cardboard cartons provided for bulk delivery of clean products, EXAMPLE: food products, drink products, medical products, egg cartons, tissue boxes, flat-pack furniture original packaging.
• Fabrics RETAINEDfrom laundeREd personal and family discarded clothing. or HARVESTED from tailor and dressmaker workshops,
• Ribbon HARVESTED from florist deliveries.
• Felt HARVESTED from hats and fashion overcoats.
• glitter harvested from medication foil covered blister packs or chocolate wrappers.
• Yarn recovered from RETAINED pulled apart discarded personal and family knitwear.
• Plywood and similar panelboard HARVESTED from discarded furniture.
• Solid Wood HARVESTED from the framework and drawers of discarded furniture. 
• Wire RETAINED from drycleaner issued temporary uncoatedclothes hangers.
• Adhesives ARE hand-made IN THE STUDIO FROM child safe non-toxic bookbinder and book curator wheat paste or corn paste recipies with salt and vinegar for pest and mold deterent.

STUDIO HAMISH does not RETAIN OR HARVEST or use paper, cardboard, or fabric that is soiled or previously used for bulk packaging of industrial products such as lubricants, chemicals, paints, or toxins of any nature.

STUDIO HAMISH does not RETAIN OR HARVEST or use any material of a plastic nature, or rubber or polystyrene or man made chemical composites.
